Formal non profit infrastructure has lacked the the interest and has provided limited support to resource and sustain Black feminist organizations, projects, and leadership. However, Black feminists continue to offer practices, analysis, initiatives, and cultural work that advance Black feminism and explicitly centers the lives and value of Black women and girls. The intention of this interactive workshop is two fold. We will begin in conversation interrogating the political moment in particular how the concepts and movements crafted by Black feminists i.e. intersectionality, women of color, and racial justice, have decentralized the needs of Black women and girls. The second part of this workshop participants will engage in a mapping activity in hopes to amplify projects centering Black women and girls and helping to map an informal network of Black feminist brilliance. This is open to all with a focus on those who have the lived experience of being a Black woman or girl.
