Many spaces that are set up to ‘help’ cis gender men with anger and abuse are often programs set up by the courts. These anger management groups I feel are unable to address issues that Transmen face, ignoring the effects of hormone therapy, social seclusion, and past sexual and physical abuse to a once female body that many Transmen have experienced. This round table seeks to engage in a dialogue with FTM identified men of color who have been abusive to their partners in the past, or who are in current abusive relationships. With this round table I hope to discuss the ways that the stigma associated with transitioning, the social pressures to ascribe to black male bravado and the criminalization of black male bodies play a role in rage and how they are manifested in our relationships. I would also like to discuss issues surrounding mental illness, and trauma giving Transmen the space to have difficult conversations that are frequently seen as taboo. I hope to generate ideas on how other Transmen have dealt with rage, or how one can begin to deal with rage in healthy ways. The goal is to come up ideas for a supportive network of men, and to start the process of healing and redemption
