De-militarize & Politicize: How Movements can Organize Against Military Recruiters & Police Departments

This is a popular education style workshop, using a “training the trainers” format. Participants will gain practical, how-to knowledge of workshop to lead similar conversations with the communities and organizations they with. Using small group breakout sessions and a problem tree exercise, participants will determine what are the roots causes of militarism and police brutality: what upholds this system and what are symptoms of militarism? Drawing connections between militarism and patriarchy, neoliberalism, white supremacy and environmental degradation, participants will be contributing to a working list of strategies to combat Empire.
